Miss Hawaiian Tropic West Virginia 2002/2003
Lucy Stowers, of Beckley, daughter of Gary and Midge Stowers of Fireco, is now Miss Hawaiian Tropic West Virginia, 2002. Lucy walked away with the finals competition, held at the Clover Club in White Sulphur Springs over the weekend. Adorned in a beautiful White Gown She won the judges hearts and votes the first time she and her smile hit the runway in the competition.
In the Bathing Suit competition Lucy had the highest score and was also the winner of the Miss Hawaiian Tropic Prettiest Legs Trophy presented in recognition of Nair Products* which is one of the sponsors of the Pageant.
She also won the trophy for the Best Hawaiian Wear which was a part of the Pageant held during the Saturday afternoon luau at the Clover Club. While representing Beckley, Miss Stowers brought three of the five trophies presented home, including the top prize, The Coveted Title, of Miss Hawaiian tropic of W.VA.
One of the additional prizes was a set
of keys to a new Trans Am to tool around in while she prepares herself
for the
Miss
Hawaiian Tropic USA Competition. Her prize package also includes air fare
to Hawaii and seven days at the fabulous Turtle Bay Hilton Resort on the
North Shore. Lucy will be competing with finalists from across America
for the coveted title of Miss Hawaiian Tropic USA.
The competition was tough as many beautiful ladies from around West Virginia made the finals. Miss Stowers set the pace for the whole evening in Fridays and Saturdays events. She had the audience's applause and backing from the start. So, look for Lucy out and about in the 2002 Trans Am. A pat on the back and congratulations are in order. Lucy has competed for 4 years with lots of hard work and has finally taken the first place title in West Virginia. Last year she shared the title with a co winner. How about that, we have another celebrity in Beckley folks. And, any of you who know Lucy well, know she is one nice, down to earth, lady.
At
this point Lucy tells me she plans to complete her Schooling in Occupational
Therapy, at Mountain State University and, is wondering how she can keep
the hectic schedule between now and the USA competition with keeping fit
and trim, and a keeping up with a regular school schedule. We'll see her
on TV soon after the USA competition as there will be numerous TV spots
and the E channel plans to broadcast part of the competition.
The judges panel including DR's, Lawyers, business owners or managers, along with the patrons of the club were raving about the contestants this year and especially Lucy. Several local business people have already donated to help Lucy with expenses for her trip, including, Lorrie James of L.J.'s Karaoke, Kelly Wade, of Classic Nails, Connie Spencer of Pikeview Lounge, and John Wheeler of Verizon. And they encourage other businesses or individuals to make what small donations they can for our home town representative to cover expenses, for clothing, meals and other miscellaneous expenses. We Wish Lucy luck as West Virginia's representative in Hawaii.
